Lightning Storm in the Bear Lodge Mountains (2018)

Lightning storms have the potential to be unnerving when you are camped in the mountains. We typically camp in the Bear Lodge Mountains in northeast Wyoming a few times each summer and always enjoy the views and relative solitude. In 2018 we experienced several significant lightning storms while we were in the mountains, and I decided to try capturing some photographs of one storm.

Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest in Nevada – October 2016

Nevada is all flat, sandy desert. Or so I thought until I visited the state for the first time in October 2016. To be sure, there is plenty of flat, sandy terrain in Nevada, but there is also stunningly beautiful forest and mountains with a diverse ecosystem. The Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest is a good example.

Medicine Bow National Forest is an incredible scenic area. This forest sits in southern Wyoming near the Colorado border. We first traveled through Medicine Bow on our way south from Gillette as we were migrating back to Arizona for winter.

Autumn in the Colorado High Country (2017)

As a native of New England, I thought we had a lock on amazing fall foliage. In the fall of 2017 I had the opportunity to spend several weeks in the Colorado high country to complete some freelance video work. The experience was beyond anything I could have imagined.

Watching the aspen turn golden yellow with stunning mountains and sweeping meadows as a backdrop is something that everyone should experience at least once. This video includes some of my favorite scenes from autumn in the Colorado mountains.
