Western Colorado is often overlooked by travelers, but the scenery is in many places similar to southern Utah – but without the crowds. Issue 3 of Meanderings Magazine features both of these impressive areas as well as an original short story by Debra Dickinson.
The western Colorado section includes Colorado National Monument, Rabbit Valley Wilderness, and Trail Through Time (dinosaur fossils). I traveled across I-70 from Denver into Utah this fall and western Colorado (from Grand Junction to the state line) was by far my favorite portion of the trip. I had passed through there many times over the years, but this was the first time that I stopped to explore.
Southern Utah has long been a favorite of mine. This section includes Moab, Dixie National Forest, and Parowan Gap. Moab probably needs no commentary, but Parowan Gap is home to an incredible collection of ancient petroglyphs as well as dinosaur tracks.
A Race Against Time
In addition to the photos, this issue also includes a special short fiction story by Debra Dickinson. A Race Against Time chronicles the adventures of preservationist Pamela White as she works to conserve historical treasures for future generations.
