Southern Arizona is popular during the winter months as full-timers and snowbirds alike seek warm weather and sunshine. Quartzsite attracts a lot of attention – and hundreds of thousands of visitors. Whether to escape the crowds in Quartzsite, or because they have reached the 14-day stay limit at free camping areas, many people decide to camp in nearby Ehrenberg.
Ehrenberg is a small community right on the California border. In fact, it is so close to California that you can see the town of Blythe across the Colorado River from Ehrenberg. Just outside of Ehrenberg is a large BLM-managed desert area that allows dispersed camping.
The only problem with the dispersed camping in Ehrenberg is that it can be a little hard to find if you have never been there. Fortunately, it is not hard once you have a map or directions.
I put together this video that shows the route into the BLM dispersed camping area near Ehrenberg. I hope it is helpful if you are considering camping in this area.
